We are six Brazilian students and we joined Global Goals Jam as a formed group after a time of study and understanding of the problems it implicates and the theme, as we saw the workshop as an opportunity to be reunited with a global team to discuss matters that involve the solution and development of the system RE+MODA (“moda” in portuguese means “fashion”).
RE+MODA was a project born in the discipline of the Design undergraduate program from the department of Arts and Design in PUC-Rio/Brazil, DSG1004 — PROJETO AVANÇADO-ESTRATÉGIA/GESTÃO (Advanced design — Strategy and Management); oriented by the professors Guilherme Toledo and Joana Pessoa.
We developed a sustainable system of gathering and redistributing textile waste from the clothing industry to reinsert them in the productive chain, closing the products manufacturing cycles, in order to prevent this material from being handled as trash.
We understand how this project fits ONU’s sustainable development goal 11.6 — Sustainable cities and communities — relating to environment impact and waste management, and how important it would be to develop it and transmit it at a global level.
