This work was developed for The Climate Reality Project Brazil to illustrate the 'Guide to Political Advocacy in Municipal Elections with Climate Rights Charters'. This guide is aimed at citizens and organisations interested in using the Climate Rights Charter as a tool for political advocacy during municipal elections. Without endorsing parties or candidates, the aim is to inform the community so that it can dialogue effectively with future legislators and influence the local political agenda.
The Climate Reality Project Brazil is the Brazilian branch of The Climate Reality Project, a global organisation created by former Vice President and Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore in 2006.
Through this guide, we propose strategies to engage candidates and voters, emphasising the pressing need for public policies that respond to the climate challenges presented in the Charters. When incorporated into municipal election campaigns, the Climate Rights Charters play a fundamental role in shaping public policies that are aware of and responsive to climate change. They bridge the specific demands of communities and political platforms, prioritising local environmental challenges.
The Climate Rights Charters are documents that articulate the demands of communities, helping to shape public policies that are aware of and responsive to climate change.
